Around Here...

Bare feet & bike rides; sunsets from the decking; and iced coffee dates...it's all a part of January around here...

Summer is in full swing, and we're doing our best to make the most of every minute outside of work, knowing that it will be all too soon that the days become shorter and the nights crisper.

Insanely beautiful sunsets and riding late into the evenings. Waking up to weather forecasts like this one & calculating how to stay cool (ie. how many frozen yoghurts is too many to squeeze into one day?!) Speaking of which, in love with the combination of Pannacotta & Pomegranate at Favourite Flavours lately. Remembering that bush fires & smokey skies are all a part of this Australian summer...and thinking of the people and pets affected by the fires that are continually in the news.

A baby shower near Kyneton was the perfect excuse to drop into lunch at the Little Swallow Cafe...best vegeterian foccacia ever (no really, 100% serious)...followed by an afternoon of onesies & cupcakes for me and golf with mates for him.

I had an audience for pulling down the Christmas tree...one of my most dreaded January tasks...helped by watching trashy reality TV on Foxtel at the same time!  Also picked up a platter of tasty little treats from the soon to be re-branded Quarry Hill Cafe & Larder...for another road trip to visit my grandparents for morning tea.

Reading: Catching up on past issues of Good Weekend & Epicure...the red carpet round up of the Golden Globes...Children of Liberty by Paullina Simons...and as per usual way too many blogs (new additions are Life of Clare, Time Magazine's The Light Box, and Temple & Webster)

Watching: Crazy good sports documentary Undefeated, Tiny Furniture (after Lena Dunham's win), Your Sister's Sister (love!), and at long last Exit Through The Gift Shop

And below my latest favourite go to recipe when it's too hot to be bothered with anything else...added bonus, it's so freaking delicious you will add it to your regulars list with no hesitation.  With thanks to Erin & Clare from Twitter...I made a combination of both of your salads! The home made balsamic glaze recipe is here...I halved it but now kinda wish I had more on hand as it's super tasty.

What have you been up to lately?
