Birch Trees

I'm a little bit in love with birch trees at the moment. I think the neutral colour combined with occasional dark slashes mean they really can blend in with so many things.  Plus, they just really say "classic/storybook forest" to me...very different to the types of trees and colours we have in the Australian bush.  I keep hoping I'm going to run into one on a walk, and just find a branch casually lying on the ground for the taking. Nothing yet...maybe I need to grow one...but as anyone who knows me in real life will tell you, growing things successfully in the backyard is not one of my strong points! Anyway, there is a tonne of birch related wedding stuff out there, I tried to find things that weren't typically wedding-y just to be a little bit different. First up, as always, Etsy finds...

1.Four sets of 6 letterpress cards & envelopes by Red Bird Ink 2. Rustic Woodland Pen by Earthy Artz 3. Sterling Silver Ring by Elizabeth Scott Designs 4. Set of 12 tags by Virtual Design Lab 5. Case for iPhone 4 & 4S by Hello Nutcase 6. Organic Baby Blanket "Woodland Friends" by Modern Made Baby

On a side note, did you know that there's a story in Native American folklore that the reason why the birch has the markings of colour on it's trunk is that some old man got so mad that birch branches would only bend and never snap that he took to the branch with his hunting knife and from then on the birch tree showed the slashes.  No? Neither did I...but I love a good story!  The rest of the pictures are things I found via Pinterest (and tried to track down original sources) and just other random places.

Birches in the Snow print by David Belyaev available here. So freaking beautiful. If I knew there weren't bears nearby, I'd love to just stand in that forest alone for awhile...the photo itself just seems to project a huge amount of silence.  The birch leg table is via the French Marie Claire Idées website.

1. Ink and Spindle's "Birch Forest" fabric in Robin's Egg Blue...limited edition designed by Lara Cameron, 2. Pinterest, 3. Pinterest

1. Pinterest, 2. I've raved about Lara before, but did you know her birch pattern is also available as wall stickers? How gorgeous does that look...I've had my eye on those decals for awhile...would be perfect for that still yet to be put together blogging corner I keep talking about. Random fact: I saw the yellow/grey combo of the full wallpaper sheet in Bath Lane (Bendigo) today...I think it was the Kick Shoes/Red Door Boutique store. Lastly, Apartment Therapy has a feature on bringing the outdoors in. Hope you've enjoyed browsing the birch collection as much as I did finding the photos :)
